Swaddling: need to stop but DD won’t settle

My DD is showing signs of being close to rolling over and I am now getting paranoid about swaddling her at night. We tried to use a sleeping bag yesterday for the first time and it was a disaster. She cried and wouldn’t settle, we had to keep her in bed with us and nurse her to sleep (I was trying to avoid this lately to start breaking this sleep association) and she kept waking up every 45 min/1 hour.
She keeps waking herself up with her arms but I am not sure what we couls do to help? She only ever naps in the sling during thhe day so I can’t use naps to get her used to being unswaddled.
How long will it take before she gets used to it and goes back to her normal sleeping pattern?

How old is your baby? I wouldn't worry about associating feeding with sleep. I fed DD to sleep every night till 13 months. Stopped because she didn't need it any more. She's been able to self settle at night from about 8.5 months.

@dec she is 14 weeks. The problem is that unless she sleeps in our bed, she wakes up once we try to put her down unless swaddled.

My little girl was the same. I gave up and had her in bed with me till 8.5 months. Then she went into her own room. Dropped to waking 1-3 times a night. Gradually started sleeping through a couple of times a night, reliably by 11 months.

How about transitioning out of the swaddle? You could try just swaddling one arm for a few nights and then using the sleeping bag so she gets used to it more gradually?

@alwaysmarmiteontoast I am considering that. I just got scared when I saw she was about to roll over and don’t want to risk. But a few nights with one arm only could be a way of doing it
