Naps for a 10 month old around the school run?

Our 10 month old is a bit of a fiend around naps and on school days, I’m really struggling to fit naps in around the school run.

The problem I have is that he can’t stay awake long enough to have one decent nap from which he wakes at a time compatible with the afternoon school run and which will see him through until bedtime. But if he has even a power nap in the morning, his awake window seems so long I can’t get him down at a sensible time to give him enough sleep. And a longer morning nap then needs a late catnap, which can push bedtime right back. It feels like we’re at the 1.5 naps stage...

How would you fit in 2 naps between 0900 and 1500 for a baby of this age who wakes around 0700? Or would you try to transition to one nap?

When are your school runs?

Definitely 2 naps at 10 months.

Mine naps 9.45-10.30 and 13.45-15.30. Obvs not exact everyday but very nearly. Bed at 7.30.

So maybe short nap in the morning post school run and then longer in the afternoon, woken before school run, depending on times.

Hi

I have the same issue so tend to do 9:30-10/10:30 and then 12:30/1pm -3pm. Hope that helps.

She sometimes fell asleep in the pram on the way home, if not I took her straight up for a nap as soon as we got home (9ish), I would go into her room about 9.30ish and open the curtains and wake her gently.
The main nap was about 12.45 (straight after lunch) until 2.30/2.45 ish.

First nap as soon as we get back at 9.15, wake up 10.30 ish, then down again 1-3.

Thank you - this is helpful. Basically, we get back around 0850 and then have to leave again at 1445. So I need to wake him/have him wake by 1430 so he can come round before we head off. Sometimes I can work it by leaving early for the afternoon run, taking a walk and getting him to sleep in the buggy on the way there. But other times, it doesn’t work out and then he’s knackered by the time we get back from school at which point DC1 is very high octane when it’s not conducive to a power nap!

Why not settle him in the pram for botg, then the timing is irrelevant. If still asleep, he didn't need to be woken etc.

Definitely two napa till about 15m.
