When to move LO into their own room?

Hey!

I'm wondering what are your little one went into their own room?

We have a cradle for the first month or so. The midwife recommended For the first 6 months but others have said to not buy a bedside crib u til they're born as they only had their baby with them for the first week and another said first month.

We moved our daughter in at six months.

They need to be in the same room as you until at least 6 months to reduce the risk of SIDS

I think your breathing helps regulate the babies breathing, hence the six months recommendation

Even then I had a baby monitor and had it so loud it was like darth Vader was in the same room,,😃

We moved at just before 9 months. She started sleeping through the night we started!

I was always planning as soon as he turned 6 months but he's an awful sleeper atm (he'll be 5 months soon) so it'll be when he's only getting up once in the night - probably when he's 10 at this rate

But 6 months should definitely be the minimum

She slept in the same room as us till 1, then we moved her into her own room but only managed to move away one of us sleeping in there with her at 2. As others have said, 6 months absolute minimum, it much much easier having them in the same room past that though.

I loved the next-to-me we had, I assume the person who only had baby in with them for a week was a long time ago: its very much against the current advice, and it is significantly linked with SIDS reduction. I honestly can't imagine leaving a one week old on their own.

Mine has just gone in her own room at 8 months, she wasn't ready before then.

The guidelines are 6 months for the reduction of SIDS risk. But this is in conjunction with a lot of other things that reduce risk (not smoking being the most important)

We used a bedside crib from day one with both babies. I personally find Moses baskets ugly and most babies seem to grow out of them quickly.

With DS we kept him in with us until 6 months. However from 4 months he'd do the evening (7-10pm) in his own room in his cot.

With DD we moved her at 4 months. Moving her into our room at 10pm was just waking her and she slept better in her own room.

6 months but see the advantage of moving earlier / later.

Earlier - we had a large baby who quickly outgrew side for and ended up using a travel cot in our room afterwards to get to the 6 month point. I’d consider moving earlier at 5 months this time around as we have no risk factors for SIDS.

Later - even after 6 months our baby was still waking at least twice a night and going back and forth to their room wasn’t that convenient!

We moved him into his own room at 4 months, but I moved in there with him until he was 6 months. Dh struggled to get a decent night's sleep with night wakings. But then he'd sleep in with ds at the weekends so I could get a full night's sleep too.
DS was express fed so I just pumped though the day and had a supply in the fridge for night feeds.

Both were in the bed side crib until about 5.5 months when I couldn’t take it any longer

My kids are 7 and 10. Eldest went next door to the box room nursery at 6 weeks, youngest at about 10 weeks.

Everyone slept better. Eldest slept thru 7pm-7am consistently from 13 weeks, youngest took a bit longer and woke for a feed at 10pm and 2am til 6mo (it was hard but luckily dh would do 10pm one so I could get a good chunk of sleep in before the 2am feed).

I don't miss those days at all! Just do what suits you best.

About a year once they were done with night feeds. Much easier than schlepping down the corridor to feed. We had a normal cot next to our bed...

Six months is the current recommended minimum time.

This guideline didn't exist ten years ago and we moved our dc into their room at four months, everyone slept better afterwards.

About 10 months, when they became dangerously mobile in the bedside cosleeper.

When he was 16 months, that was only because he was going in a toddler bed at 17 months so we wanted him to get used to his own room first

6m Is the minimum everyone should aim for - all sleeps next to an adult til at least 6mo.
