White noise for 8 month old?

My 8 month old DS has never been a great sleeper. Wakes up from the general noise of us around the house. Would a white noise machine be worth it, considering he is on the older side and we haven’t used one before.

Also he still stares himself with his hands but too old to be swaddled. Is there alternative for his age?

Thanks for any advice!

Actually rather than startling himself he moves his hands around especially to pull his ears.

Honestly I’m still using a combination of dummy, rocking in my arms, patting him when lying down so not entirely sure where to start!

Love to dream sleep suit has you can cover the hands so still feels like a swaddle but safe to roll etc.
We are 7.5 months and use white noise for naps and all bed time - although we have used since birth

Definitely would recommend white noise, so good for drowning out general house noises and for your baby to associate it with a sleep time. We’ve got a white noise machine which I really rate, but it was about £30 from memory so you could always try playing some from Spotify through an Alexa/similar to trial it before you buy one?

We still use white noise at 5 years Grin . Problem is, now I struggle to sleep without it. We're in a flat so any noise is close to her bedroom

Yea white noise is a god send! Especially helped us during the fireworks! I got mine off Amazon and it's called dream egg - amazing. It sends us all off into a deep sleep! My baby is 6 months and we got it when she was 3 months. She's now gone in her own room and I miss the machine 😂

Thanks, it seems like white noise is the way forward!
