Weighted blanket for a 22 month old

Hi has anyone used a weighted blanket for a 22 month old ?

My daughter is the worst sleeper in the world and someone mentioned trying one as she moves around so much at night.

If so are there any recommendations

Thanks

I haven't personally but you could try it. Remember it's important to use a blanket that's no more than 10 per cent of her bodyweight.

Is there anywhere you could hire one to try before you buy? It might not be effective and they are quite expensive to waste money on.

No apparently they are dangerous for young children. Or so I read on here on a thread about weighted blankets.

DramaAlpaca · 15/11/2020 01:09

Oh. If that's the case, please ignore me. The 10 per cent of bodyweight is correct, though.

YeahItsJackie · 15/11/2020 01:11

Very very dangerous, please don't do it

They shouldn’t be used for children under 2 so the OP’s child isn’t far off.

Thanks everyone I'm just fed up of her waking up because she's moving too much and without taking her to the bed I thought a weighted blanket may help

Is this the type you mean? www.amazon.co.uk/Nested-Bean-Zen-Sack-Classic/dp/B07FYQ88WF?psc=1&th=1&tag=mumsnetforu03-21

It’s a sleep sack with a small weight on the top in the form of a bird.

My son was like this due to SEND issues. Our OT recommended sheets and blankets and tucking him in, it worked a treat. He felt secure and blankets could be varied according to weather so he didn't overheat.
