Can you hear your baby wake and cry on a baby monitor when there's white noise playing in their room?

Yes I can. You don’t really need a baby monitor for crying but we use as we can hear the pre crying tossing and turning and whimpering.

Yes I can. I do really need a baby monitor as our room aren't adjoining in anyway so can't hear her cry if both doors are shut, but can definitely hear her above the white noise. It helps if the source of the noise isn't directly next to the monitor

And what about without a monitor?

I can hear if he wakes up in the bedroom when I'm in fhe living room when he starts to whine. Do you think I'll still be able to without a monitor if there's white noise on in his room?

I think it depends on the pitch of the noise. I can hear dd from outside her door if she is crying but can't always hear the white noise - because it's such a constant I think your brain tunes it out quite quickly. I can also hear her better if I use one particular app as opposed to another, where the sound is slightly different
