Newborn snacking and dozing

Hi,

My 5 week old is a nightmare to get back to proper sleep after a night feed. Early in the night (7 to about midnight) she sleeps on us in the living room for 2-3 hour periods. She settles ok in the next 2 me after coming up to bed and having a decent feed - but after waking up the first time from that anywhere between an hour and 3.5, she feeds for no more than 5 mins, goes back to sleep but then wakes again every half hour for the rest of the night, I assume as she is still hungry but still won’t eat properly. If I sit with her then I basically get no sleep from about 3.
If I wake her up properly ie nappy change she won’t go back to sleep at all even with a proper feed.

I’m pretty sure this is eating related. How do I gently encourage proper feeds and sleeps?! Advice appreciated :) thanks

Congratulations on your baby! Have you thought about Co sleeping to get some more rest? Or going to be in that 7-12 window for more sleep? 5 weeks is still very very young. When ds was that age, me and dh either did shifts or went to bed as soon as we had eaten dinner.
As for the baby, I think it's completely normal what you're describing and they will grow out of it. Everything is a phase, just sometimes a shit phase. I'm sorry I don't have more advice for you

Is she doing her cluster feeding in the early hours rather than in the evening? If mine 10 weeks sleeps all evening on someone she doesn’t sleep well the rest of the night.

I try to get mine to do the long cluster type feed between 6-10 and then she sleeps longer.

Thanks both! She did originally cluster feed from about 6-10, that’s settled down now but today she’s been snacking pretty much all day. I think we need to move her away from the sleeping on us (when it’s a good day!) so it’s not so much of a shock going into the cot...

Have a hot water bottle handy to warm the cot so it’s not a shock going from warm mummy to cold basket
