14 hours in total?

How much sleep should a 2 year old be getting?

My MIL says 14 hours or more 🤷🏻‍♀️

My DD sleeps on average 7pm to 7am if not teething but does not nap consistently if not much at all...

Am I doing it all wrong? Have no idea. She sort of moved away from consistent naps at 21 months...

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

If you google children sleep nhs there is a great nhs webpage on this.

They’re all different. My older 2 had 14 hours at that age (7-7 with a 2 hour nap). My third (nearly 2) only sleeps 10 hours at night with a 1-2 hour nap. He’s well rested and happy so I’m guessing that’s enough for him.

Googling suggests 12-14 hours and that all children are different

summerinthecity22 · 12/10/2020 12:22

2 years
• daytime: 1 hour 30 minutes
• night-time: 11 hours 30 minutes

🤷🏻‍♀️

So an hour nap then?

She just won't do it!

It is approximate. If your child is happy with the sleep they are getting then they are having enough sleep for them

Thatwentbadly · 12/10/2020 12:25

I wouldn’t worry so much about the nap. I got DD1 to drop her nap at just after 2 yrs and she ended up getting more sleep over all without it. I would look at the total figure as a guide and then worry about is your child too tired.

dementedpixie · 12/10/2020 12:25

My kids stopped napping around age 2 as well.

Thatwentbadly · 12/10/2020 12:26

Your little one is getting 12 hours sleep rather than try suggests 13 but if is happy and not over tired then I would say that’s fine

ScarMatty · 12/10/2020 14:40

It's a guideline and it's approximate.

Your child is fine

Thanks everyone 🙏

Feeing less anxious now and yes my DD doesn't seem upset during the day or acts overtired. Obviously If we have had lots of activity in the day - then she gets tired later - I bring bedtime forward and she will sleep fine through to morning.

I'm still hopeful she might nap again!

I do find it hard going the whole day but they are only young once Smile
