Does anyone have any advice. DD is nearly 5 months and until last wk would sleep 8pm-5am feed and then go back to sleep till 7am. No problems going down as went into cot sleepy found thumb and went to sleep. If stirred in night, thumb worked its magic. Wk ago thumb disappeared - no big event/reason - she just won't suck it although have afeeling it might hurt her as she's beginning to teeth. She now can't put herself to sleep during the day or night and gets upset. When she does go down a night she's started waking at 1 or 2 in the am - she'll go back to sleep after a feed but I'm not sure whats going on. I've resorted to using a dummy (as leaving her to cry results in hysteria)but don't really want to go down that road. Does anyone have any ideas about why this is happening, how I get her thumb back or how I avoid her becoming dependent on the dummy. Thxs Fisha

my ds had a dummy until he was about five months old and then we had to take it off him because he was having an operation and could not have it. he was ok until he was about nine months old and now he sucks his sheet. i found that he went through a stage of waking up during the night - once over he would sleep all night, i discovered if i gave him a little food with his last bottle of milk he began sleeping right through again - perhaps she is a little hungry during the night - try giving her a little food with her last milk and see if that works or try leaving her to cry for a while, she will then figure out how to go back to sleep on her own.
