Think you are meant to build up the gaps incrementally?

I.e, leave for 2, back for 1, leave for 4, back for 1 and so on.

Good luck. It's hard. (And controversial, esp on here ). But it saved my sanity.

pneumalifenewname · 09/10/2007 19:51

I say between 2 and 5 mins depending on how YOU feel. It doesn't matter so long as it isn't ages and so long ss it isn't every 2 seconds.

I don't agree with the increasing time strategy personally.

notnowbernard · 09/10/2007 19:53

Yes, I have to admit I never was able to go beyond a gap of 5 or 6 mins

pneumalifenewname · 09/10/2007 19:55

btw notnowbernard, I wasn't disagreeing with you personally just the strategy - thought my post sounded a little pointed, I'm sorry

notnowbernard · 09/10/2007 19:56

It wasn't taken that way

artichokes · 09/10/2007 19:56

Thanks. I knows its controversial. I oppose in in principal, but in practise I feel it is this or a nervous breakdown.

Thankfully she is quite. Took 10 mins in total (and two checks). We will see how long the quietness lasts before I praise CC.

Wow that is marvellous! Hope you have a good night right through til morning. I think CC is fine if you as a family are able to cope with it. No point doing it if it feels like torture but very effective if it works for oyu and you keep the gaps shortish.

CantSleepWontSleep · 09/10/2007 19:58

Blimey that's quick! The 'official' line is that on day 1 you leave it 5 mins, then 10 mins, then 15 mins etc. On day 2 you start at 10 mins, then 15, then 20 etc. On day 3 you start at 15 mins, then 20 and so on.

notnowbernard · 09/10/2007 19:59

I think most parents are opposed to CC in principle.

I did it with dd1 at 6m... she would just not go down at night (slept through ok). The longest she cried for was 45mins (from start to finish, whilst chexking). It took 6 nights of doing it.

DD2, on the other hand... will of iron

artichokes · 09/10/2007 20:03

It was quick but then she is utterly knackered. Our real problem is getting her back down after night wakings. That will be the test tonight. Once she is rested a little I don't doubt her ability to put up a really good fight.

yes, that was dd2... out like a light at 7, screaming the (small flat) down at 12, 1, 2, 3 etc etc...

pneumalifenewname · 10/10/2007 10:13

How did it go?
