2 year old nap

My 2.5 year old LOVES her sleep and I'm worried she's sleeping too much. She sleeps from
About 7:30pm to 6:30am and then naps at 1pm, I had to wake her up today at 4:30pm! So 3 and a half hours! Other days just an hour, an average of 2 hours I'd say.

Is this normal? Is she sleeping too much and should I be waking her from her naps? When I do wake her she is so groggy and miserable for the rest of the day that I tend to just leave her now to wake up naturally.

Apart from this, she is a good weight and height, no health concerns, bright and happy and a typical defiant 2 year old!

Your daughter is fine. Lots of small children like a long nap in the afternoon and she does get up very early.

It will all change when she goes to school.

Thanks, yes I have tried cutting it out completely /reducing it, to get her to wake up a bit later, but regardless of naps or what time she goes to bed, her body clock it set to wake up at 6:39am annoyingly!!
Cutting out or reducing the nap didn't go well as she was so tired by bedtime she just got herself into a right state.

I feel likes its holding her back a bit, as planning day trips etc is always centred around her naps. She just can't seem to handle life without a nap bless her.

Yeah she’s fine if she’s not then struggling with night sleep.
My 2.5yr old still needs to sleep really but if she’s not had one she’s a ratbag by teatime, but if she has then she’s a demon at bedtime! I envy you!!

Hiya our little boy is 2 and naps for around 2hrs from 12.30 in the afternoon...we don't really let him have any longer...if it's not affecting her waking to early in the morning I wouldn't change anything we we don't let our little one sleep past 3pm xx

If she’s going to bed at a good time I would leave the nap.

My 4 year old still has a daily 1.5 hour nap!! I will only stop this if he starts not going to bed in the eve, or when he starts school/ whichever comes
