Nap extending at nearly six months?

DS is getting on for six months. He hit the four month sleep regression bang on cue and since then naps have been 35 minutes, with the odd 45 minutes as a treat.

His night sleep improved but for the last week has been awful, waking every two hours. He's managed an hour long nap at least once each day this week though and is currently 1.5 hours into a nap. Could he be figuring out naps and this is disturbing his nights? Is there the possibility once he's worked on this he might sleep better at night again? I'd love a bit of hope! Grin
