11 month old won't sleep in cot

Hi all, DS is 11 months now and will no longer go to sleep or stay asleep in the cot.

We started sleep training when he was 6 months, he went into his own room, went straight into the cot and would go off to sleep by himself for naps and bedtime. Out routine was quite regimented and we were in a really good place! He was a dream baby.

After maybe 2 months of this he started teething really badly and had a few sicknesses, so out of tiredness and wanting to comfort our sick baby we put him in the bed when he would wake (how we regret that now). Then he learned how to stand in the cot and from that point onwards we COULD NOT get him to fall asleep in the cot. I've tried over and over and he just refuses. Now we have to lay on the bed with him and he drifts off not a bother but I know this is what's causing the frequent awakenings and not going back to sleep in the cot. Now he's in the bed with one of us and we're not getting the sleep we need and it's unhealthy for our relationship.

I don't know what else to do or how to handle it, should we try the CIO method? the stay and support approach hasn't been working the last few months, he just refuses to lie back down once he knows where there. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Would he feed to sleep in your arms, then be put in cot?

@LouiseTrees No he usually has bottle about 30 or 40 minutes before going to bed but still can only seem to get him to sleep in my arms or lie on my bed, refusing the cot :(

And he wakes up if you try and transfer him?

Initially when he first falls asleep and we move him to cot he will stay asleep for a few hours (could be 1 hour, could be 3 or could be 7 hours, every night is diff).

We usually settle him in the cot a few times and then he will eventually wake up and realise where he is and scream until we take him out :(

Do you hear him rumble when he does wake up on the monitor (and you could go through before it gets to crying) or do you have space for the cot in your room?

Yeah we hear him on the monitor and no we've little space in our room for his cot. any suggestions?
