Restless legs keeping baby awake.

Morning all. If anyone has any ideas about how to help with the following,I'd be so grateful. She goes down at about 7/7.30 and can sleep right through to about 2am,wakes for a feed, then that's when the legs start. After her feed,we put her back down, she wakes up a bit and the legs start going like this. Last night I sat up for 20 mins holding them and could feel them twitching and jerking. If I let go, they'd fly up and wake her up. That's the problem they're causing - she wakes up then she wants to go back to sleep, struggles, the legs start going and that makes it even harder for her to sleep. Last night she woke at 2.45 for a feed, onto fed for 15 mins, but then I spent the next 30 mins holding her legs to get her back to sleep. Then she woke just before 5,legs started, fed for 10 mins to get her back off, woke just before 6 and then was awake. I'm pretty sure she still wants to be asleep, hence the crying and legs. So it's not like she's ready to get up and start the day as she doesn't seem rested. We're pretty sure it's not wind and that she's tired and wants to sleep. Can anyone help?!

Restless legs can be caused by magnesium deficiency.

You can get magnesium sprays for babies - spray it on her legs after the evening bath, maybe give her a bit of a leg massage.

I use a spray and it’s definitely helped my restless legs.

Yes,I suffer too. Took magnesium supplements whilst pregnant and they worked a treat. I can't find any spray suitable for babies, she's only 14 weeks, have you seen any?

I’m sorry, I haven’t. Try holland and Barrett?

Actually as she’s still so little could you swaddle her?

Layladylay234 · 03/09/2020 07:45

She's already swaddled, we've swaddled her since she was about 2 weeks old and she really likes it. Thought the swaddle was maybe too small,so we got her bigger ones. Didn't make a difference. Took her legs out of the swaddle, didn't make a difference. Tried her in a sleeping bag,no change.

Last night again it took 20 mins to settle her after her feed with us holding her legs down. I could feel them twitching and jerking as I held them, like when adults are in light sleep and their legs twitch. But hers seem to just go lift up as opposed to just twitch and I'm not sure that's ok. I think I'll have to give the doctor a call as I'm not sure
