Is it OK to store a cot bed mattress upright for 2 months?

My house is being renovated (I'm now 9 months pregnant EEK!) and I stupidly bought the baby's cot bed mattress 2 months ago. As there has been no room, I have stored it upright rather than flat. Do you think this is OK? I'm worrying I may have ruined it? It's only been 8 weeks, so I'm hoping this isn't considered long term. I also have had my snuzpod in the box upright for 2 months! Am I just worrying over nothing?! I hope so! Just wondering if anyone else has stored their mattresses upright and they've been fine? Thanks Smile

...what on earth do you think will happen!?

I don't know haha! I've read on Google that it destroys the springs or something?!

I imagine a lot of them are stored upright in shops and warehouses tbh. It wouldn’t occur to me to worry about this. Is this your first baby by any chance?

Yes, FTM ..... how did you guess?! haha! The anxiety must be seeping out of me Wink

They were stored upright in mothercare when we went to buy ours

Oh great Marmite, that makes me feel better haha! I bet I sound nuts! I just keep thinking 'I've spent a good few quid on this, I hope I haven't rendered it unusable!'

Maybe, just maybe a massive, heavy king size mattress is best stored flat, but a cot mattress? It will be fine.

MrsGems · 25/08/2020 19:17

Yes, you're right, a normal adult mattress would be heavy and that makes more sense. Clearly I have baby brain Grin and anxiety is taking over!

They’re absolutely fine. I used to work in a well known baby shop and we stored ours that way in the store room and on the shop floor.

Thank you GeordieLass, you've put my mind at ease Smile

It’s natural to worry about everything with your first!
