Baby sleeping through - mum isn't!

Really hoping some other mums are out there who have had this and can help me. LO is just seven months and has been sleeping through 7pm-6am for the last month since I weaned the dream feed at 6 months and moved out of his room (made more sense for us to sleep in his room rather than the other way around). This is the dream and I am so grateful that he is sleeping so well - but I am still waking at least three times a night, a month after moving back into our room! I slept badly during pregnancy and never slept well in his room either as every snuffle and cough woke me, and now I seem to be in a pattern of waking nightly every couple of hours. I don't think I've slept more than a few hours straight for nearly a year now. I'm exhausted and just don't know what to do to sleep train myself!! If anyone has experienced this, how long did it last, and did you do anything which helped?

Yep think this is fairly common. I think learning some self hypnosis/ mindfulness techniques helped me to overcome it. Can’t remember. It does eventually pass!

Glenn Harold sleep hypnosis app is fantastic. It really helped me when my daughter was a baby. I also recommend Guy Meadows sleep book, I listen to it on Audible in the evening which is very relaxing.

I am exactly the same!!

Baby has slept 11-12 hours a night since he was around 11 weeks.

I haven’t slept more than 2 hours at a time.

A big part of my lack of sleep is PTSD from birth complications and baby being hospitalised with a serious illness at 2 weeks old.

But even when that’s not on my mind, I’m wide awake and then struggling to function in the day.

And God forbid you try to talk to anybody about it - the first thing out of their mouth is always “you can’t expect to sleep with a baby” and then when you explain that baby sleeps fine they say “well why are you complaining, that’s fantastic, my baby wakes endlessly, etc” 😩

Sorry, kind of spiralled there. Probably due to lack of sleep.

Baby is still in the room with me, but i actually sleep better with him close.

What does your bed time routine for you look like? I’m wondering if maybe that’s where I’m lacking

How bloody true is that !! It’s so annoying !! My baby sleeps amazing but I’m constantly waking up also had ptsd which has been treated but still have pnd so wonder if that’s why. Still feeling knackered but like you say feel like you can’t moan to anyone as they say how lucky you are baby sleeps X

We'll I'm glad I'm not the only one struggling with this, and sorry to you others who are! Sooo true you can't complain to anyone about it!! I've been thinking about trying not to look at screens for two hours before bed but I tried it one night and didn't make any difference. My routine is just shower, teeth, face etc nothing exciting! I'm trying to get to bed as early as possible but after putting him down at 7ish, making dinner, eating dinner and clearing up I feel I need a bit of time to myself before getting into bed! Not to mention trying to get some exercise in on occasion Shock will look up the hypnosis app, thank you x
