Cot question

My 8 month old has started sitting up and kneeling and seems to like launching himself head first in any direction. At night this means usually into the wooden bars of his cot. My OH suggested we swap the wooden cot for the travel cot with its softer sides...using the proper mattress from the main cot. Would this be safe as a long term solution?

I think this is a phase that babies can go through around that age. My DS has a few weeks of waking in the night because he was getting his arms stuck . They seem to grow out of it. Also, I think the sound of them banging into the sides is a lot worse than they feel it, especially in the night when there's no other sound.

It's really not pleasant to think your LO is getting hurt in the cot but long term the cot might be more comfortable than a travel cot

A normal sized cot mattress won’t fit into a travel cot without leaving gaps which are more dangerous .
It’s just a shirt phase he’ll grow out of it just stick with normal cot.
Travel cots are for short stays not home use.

Thanks for the replies. Proper mattress is the same size so no gaps...so are there other reasons to not use the travel one?
