11 month old ready for one nap...?

I would of said no but my 11 month old would normally wake up at 7.00/7.30, nap between 10/1020 to 1130-1145 and again at 200/230 to 340/400 and that was all fine. Trying to get him to sleep at 700-715 and he would be ok as he is calm but will not fall asleep. Some nights it would take until 830 till 900 for him to sleep and that is hard on us as we look forwards to our evenings to unwind. We tried to change the evening routine but he doesnt seem tired enough to go to sleep....

Yesterday only by chance, we were all out and he didnt have an afternoon nap. He was ok in himself, got sleepy around 5 but after he had some food he woke up again and feel asleep straight away at 7. I would of thought he would of been restless but its one of the only nights where he didnt seem restless in his cot... and slept throughout the night which is so rare and woke up in a very good mood (that is always normal).

So today we were going to push back his morning nap and try one nap again.

Has anyone has this before?

Both my DDs were down to 1 nap before they were 12 months. Just a couple of hours in the afternoon after dinner. Worked ok for us and them

What time did you nap them in the afternoon?

When mine started going to a childminder at 11 months she would nap about 12.30/1 instead of two naps and it worked pretty well

I'm having the same conundrum with my 11mo. He normally goes

Wake - 7
1st nap - 9 - 10
2nd nap - 1 - 2.30
Bed - 8
It's still mainly working for now though and his older brother was about 18mo before he went down to 1 nap.

In your situation though, 3 hours between waking from last nap and bed doesn't seem very long, it's always worked for us to have this be the longest stretch they are awake.

My DD dropped to one nap on a regular basis just after her first birthday. She wakes around 6/6.30am, nap around 11.45 straight after lunch for up to 2 hours then bed at 6.30pm. It works so well for us as we have two chunks of activity time so can really make the most of the day.

My LO went to 1 nap at 10 months. She would nap 11-1 x

DS was the same, dropped to one nap by himself at around 11 months. I would roll with it, and as long as not getting overtired before bedtime then all good. It worked well for us to be honest, much easier having just one longer nap, especially at nursery.

Thank you all for the replies. It looks to be working better for us but will see how he transitions.
