Are anti roll pillows safe to use for an almost 5 month old?

The Lullaby Trust specifically advise against use of these, without age limitations. So no, not safe.

Why are you concerned? General rule of thumb is place baby in their back to sleep, but by the time they are old enough to roll then it's 'safe' for them to have rolled and slept portions of the night in their side / tummy

@1940s she’s only half able to roll, gets stuck and wakes up crying

That's a really short-lived phase they go through. She'll soon learn to roll both ways so getting stuck won't be an issue.

Lots of practice in the daytime:

  • Floor time whenever awake and happy
  • Nappy off time is great during this floor time, mire freedom of movement
  • dot toys on floor but just out of reach, especially to left and right of baby (rather than front/back). Get baby reaching and stretching towards them.
  • Tummy time every floor time, even if just for a few minutes. Prioritise tummy time for as long as possible - will teach front to back rolling.
