Hi everyone,
Really wanting some advice and hope you can help / share some of your experiences.
I have a 7 month old and a 5 year old.
I suffer desperately from anxiety every day and find a routine / structure really helps ( keeps me going and feels in control!)
When my second was born, I couldn’t really cope at first as they are obviously newborn and have no routine. I felt like I was going mad!
So far my girl has settled really well now into a routine - approx one hour in am and nearly 2 hours pm and also sleeping through from 6pm-7.30
However ... now she’s completely fighting the afternoon nap
I don’t know what to do or how to combat this.
I really need her to have that nap 1-3 as then have to do the school run.
A family member suggested dropping the morning nap so that she definitely sleeps in the aft - but that would mean going from 7.30 till 1 without sleep.
I don’t know what to do, so would really appreciate any of your stories, what you do , routines etc if you have an older child too and have to work in with them
Many many thanks in advance , I really look forward to hearing your advice!
X

If she is sleeping 6.00pm - 7.30am without waking, so 13 1/2 hours overnight sleep, then I would suggest she probably only wants one daytime nap. If not, a short carnal only in the morning and later afternoon nap.

I'd suggest trying to get baby through to 11am for the nap. You may well get a super long 3h plus nap. In time slide this towards a 12-3pm nap.

If this isn't feasible then I'd suggest allowing a pushchair/car nap on the morning school run (So 8.30-9.00 for example). But wake baby up after half an hour. Then go for a 1-3pm afternoon nap.

Thank you!
That’s really good advice!
So I could try let her sleep in the car on the school run ( I was previously trying to keep her awake for this so she would nap when she gets home)
Thank you I will try today!

Hello again!
So this morning she woke at 6 ish and I got her up at 7 so she had been awake ( but happy) for a while.
I thought she may fall asleep on the school run but she didn’t. So when we got back I put her down 9.15 and she went straight to sleep no fuss at all.
I’m going to wake her 9.45 so she’s had a quick half hour nap. Then hope she goes down around 1.30 fingers crossed!!!
