5 month old has no nap routine

I never put my 5 month old down for naps. When she is showing signs of being tired I just give her a cuddle and she tends to fall asleep on me. But more often she will just fall asleep on her play mat and I'll pop a blanket over her. Naps vary from 5 minutes to 2 hours and are at various times of day. Is this ok or should I be working towards more of a routine for her? I kind of feel like this way she is probably getting exactly the amount of sleep she needs? Also reluctant to force anything to be honest, as she sleeps 10 hours straight at night and I would hate to mess that up!

If you follow baby's lead, but start paying attention to sleep patterns you will probably start noticing a cycle or routine start to develop.

Children do thrive on predictability and routine, but that can develop in a child-led way and need not be forced.

What I would give for my DC to just fall asleep on playmat! Rather than the endless rocking required here! If she’s getting enough sleep and sleeps well at night why change anything?
