Bedtime routine for 4 month old

What kind of bedtime routine are people doing for an almost 4 month old? Is a bath necessary everyday just to get into routine rather than cleaning? I’m thinking just a massage before bed rather than bath n massage?

Thanks for asvice/experience!

Sorry, I was typing in a hurry there, I meant cleanliness.

We have always done a bath every night from a few months old. She's always been a pretty good sleeper and we stick to the same routine every night.

A bath every night for a tiny baby just seems like a waste of water to me! We do a bath about 2 or 3 times a week. Other days we just do a wipe down with a flannel. Then a little massage, clean PJs, story and a milk feed. She goes down in her cot and falls asleep by herself most nights but sometimes falls asleep feeding.

Ok thanks for replies
Also do you guys use swaddles or grobags?

We hve always used sleeping bags and I now even put her in it during her day time cot naps so she associates it with sleeping. Doesnt always work now she's climbing the rails haha.

We use grobags here!

Baby falls asleep on me downstairs at his own pace. When I go up to bed, I change his nappy and pop him in a sleep bag before giving him a bottle. We have a star light and music for this. He falls asleep feeding or shortly afterwards and then sleeps through :)

I think at about 5/6 months I started a routine. Basically as soon as my Daughter started going through the sleep regression and waking up 700 times a night.

We used to do bath, bottle, then book (to be honest, she was always too tired for the book but we stupidly ploughed on).

My youngest Daughter is 3 months and we are currently just giving her a bottle and popping her in bed when she's asleep, but will probably start up the bath, bottle, book routine in a month or 2.

Our ds is nearly 2 now but even when he was very little we never bathed daily (as much as I'm sure he'd love it!) in order to save water. We do bath night 3 times a week and a quick top and tail on the other 4 nights.

5 months here
From about 3/4 months started to do a very casual routine which varies depending on feed times as feed on demand.

Ish feed at 7- don't feed to sleep anymore though
Grow bag.
Next to me crib
Bath once a week due to eczema and just use a flannel on other days.
Book sometimes but will do this more routinely when in own cot

You can't swaddle when baby can roll and its a bit risky at 4 months I would think?
