Tips for weaning of rocking..

My 3 months old is a reasonable sleeper. Doesn’t sleep through (don’t expect her too) but naps OK, has a bedtime & only wakes for feeds.

Naps & bedtime are in her Snuz co-sleeper. She always goes down awake as she’s an odd baby & hasn’t fallen asleep on a bottle or breast feed since she was 2 weeks old 🤨 even my HV & midwife were surprised bc & amused at how awake she was on feeds. There is just no sign of sleepiness what so ever!

So, the only way to get her to sleep is to rock her in the Snuz co-sleeper. If you don’t rock, she just cries & cries. If you rock, no crying & settles in 5/6 minutes or so. And it’s specifically rocking in her Snuz that gets her to sleep. She hates being cuddled & rocked, that is not her thing. She squirms & cries & gets really angry. You pop her down & she instantly relaxes.

I’ve got no problem with her needing a rock at all, she’s only small but in two weeks time, we are going to stay with our in-laws (hurray for some support at last!) & have no room in the car to take the quite large Snuz with us 😭

Does anyone have any tips, suggestions etc on how to wean her off this rocking? She has a dummy & it does help settle her but she’s not mega keen. Sometimes, she flatly refuses it.. I’ve just got no idea where to start! Elder DD would fall asleep on a bottle and liked her dummy. So this is new 🙈

Thank you!

I haven’t experienced this myself but I read somewhere that say you rock them for 15 mins, gradually reduce it by a minute every 1 or 2 nights (so baby is less likely to notice than going cold turkey) until they’re not being rocked at all. Maybe you could try that?
