I have been nursing my daughter to sleep for the last year. My husband also puts her to sleep with a bottle. We are now going to wean her a bit from breast milk, and so I have been trying to not nurse her during her naps. This works fine for my husband as she will cuddle with him and use a pacifier and go to sleep. BUt for me it is now a nightmare. She will not accept a binki from me at all when we are in her rocking chair. She will throw it on the floor when I try to offer it to her. I keep breaking down because she will just sit in my arms and scream and nurse her. But the moment I try to set her in the crib she wakes and screams. Which leads me to leaving her in the crib screaming. The screaming only last a few min, 5 at most and then she get her binki and eventually will fall asleep. But I feel terrible. Anyone go through the same ordeal? any advice? I feel at this point I should just cuddle her before going to the room and then just put her in the crib as she is going to scream no matter what now.

When stopping breastfeeding, it really is much easier if someone else takes over settling to sleep for a while. Could your DH do it?

We both are still working so half of the days I am alone with her.

If the crying only lasts a few minutes, I would persist, as sounds like she is protesting more than being genuinely upset or in need of something?

If she’s screaming in your arms anyway, she’s no worse off in the crib, and that way she goes to sleep quicker? x
