Daytime sleep

Hi,

My daughter is 5 months old and is breastfed. At nighttime she now sleeps through the night which is great and she sleeps in her cot. In the day time it is impossible for me to get her to sleep in there and I just can’t work our what to do. She feeds to sleep and in the day she has to constantly be attached to my nipple. If I put her in the cot asleep she wakes up immediately and cries. I’m following appropriate awake times so she’s not over tired, I do mini version of night time routines and sleep cues. I’m starting to feel frustrated at having to have her sleep on me for all of her naps - will she ever grow out of this or is the only way the dreaded self settling sleep training?

Thank you

A sidecar/bedside cot would work to solve this. A full sized, normal cot with one side removed so that it is 3-sided. Then you can lie the top half of your body into the cot. Feed/cuddle in there until asleep and extract yourself without moving baby afterwards.

Then overtime gradually reduce how asleep baby is when you unlatch and move away. The key, important thing is that baby isn't put down already asleep, but goes to sleep where she will stay asleep.
