Sleep books/resources - self soothing & naps

I’ve got my 7 month old into bad habits worth sleep. He’s very reliant on me to get to sleep and will only sleep in his cot once I’ve held him to sleep (fast asleep not just semi). He wakes a lot in the night for his dummy and is a terrible napper.

Can anyone recommend any books or resources such as websites to try to help his self soothe. I don’t agree with CIO so needs to be other methods. Unfortunately I can’t afford a sleep consultant

Thankyou

I love this US sleep consultant called 'taking Cara babies' she does sell sleep plans, and I think her one for 6months+ does involve crying, but I read all her blogs and bought the newborn e-book and never needed the actual sleep training - my DS is 7 months now. I found her soothing and self settling tips really useful.
