21 month old screaming at nap/bedtime

Hi all,

My once good sleeper has had for the past two days been screaming hysterically at nap and bedtime.
He used to fall asleep quickly after chatting to himself a little. Now he's having a full crying/ screaming fit standing in the cot.

I need to nip this in the bud! Does anyone know if this is common around this age- and most importantly how can I stop this aversion to sleep time?

Thanks,

V common and we've just been through this with our 2.5 year old. Turns out he needed a fraction more awake time. Maybe push back the nap by 15 mins and see if that works?

Molars cut around the second birthday, could be that. Could also be illness (sore throat, ear ache).

Thank you both - it's just totally come out of the blue. He's waking up now at 5 instead of 6ish and screaming/ crying instead of chatting away like he usually does.
We will try putting him to bed slightly later tonight and check on his teeth- i don't think he is cutting any atm but haven't checked in a while.

Nightmares start around that age! My DS sleep went funny for a week or so because he was genuinely petrified, but it passed. We did have to talk to him about ‘bad dreams’, reassure that it’s not real, etc.
