Moving to a bed...I’ve got the fear

DS1 will be 2 in August and I’ve just ordered his big bed...he’s going straight into a single that’s a bit lower to the ground.

We’re moving him mainly because DS2 will need the cot bed from about the same time. He’s also shown signs of climbing (he’s tried climbing in but not out yet) but is still in a sleeping bag (which he’ll come out of when in a bed)

In theory I want to move him a good month before DS2 moves as well, to allow him to ‘forget’ about the cot

But I’m absolutely terrified to do it. He’s such a good sleeper, self settles and sleeps through which he’s only reliably been doing for about 3 months now. I’m just terrified that moving him will ruin everything and I’m not sure how I’m going to cope especially with a little one to get into a good sleep routine also Confused

So hit me with the good, the bad and the ugly of bed transitions! I need to know what to prepare myself for

I know how you feel, I felt similar when my son (aged 2.5) was moving into a bed a month ago. He surprised me, I was thinking we would be in for sleepless nights! For the most part he has went down no problem and stayed in his bed albeit fallen out a couple of times. His bed is low and rug on the floor so no damage done. Good luck.

With DD we let her choose a duvet. She was excited but only wanted to be in the bed if she needed an afternoon nap.
When she did move into the bed she screamed blue murder when we went to move the cot. That had to be dismantled piece by piece over a few weeks.
She slept beautifully in her bed but was always a very early riser do toddled to ours at first sparrow fart.
