Does the Ferber Method always work?

My 6mo is waking every day 2 hours during the night and is a nightmare to try to get to sleep. It takes a long time to put her down and she needs to be bounced or fed to sleep. I am exhausted and I have never wanted to CIO sleep train but a friend recommended the Ferber Method. My question is does it always work and is it worth it? Can you please tell me your story? I at the end of my tether and I don't know what to do. I walked my baby in her pram for 4 hours today just trying to get her a decent nap as she had been up since 5:30am and then she refused her afternoon nap after me trying to put her down for an hour and a half. I think I have cried today and much as my baby. I am exhausted and I don't know what to do Sad

I wouldn't sleep train a 6 mo with any amount of crying. You can ignore every word I say BTW because all babies are different.

I fed, cuddled, bounced DD to sleep. It got her to sleep with no tears. I'd hold her for naps, or better yet, get her to sleep in my arms, transfer her to between my legs in a warm cocoon of blankets and read a book while she slept.

Are you BFing or bottle?

I'm BF and weaning. I have tried to rock her and comfort her back to sleep but it's just getting harder and harder to do and today for her nap she screamed most of the time so what am I supposed to do? She is literally crying because she doesnt want to go to sleep! I have tried everything else to make her comfortable and happy but it just seems like she is going to cry anyway and I am exhausted. Its 4:55am and she has woken up every hour tonight!

We used the Ferber method at 6 months as my little one was waking up every hour and refusing daytime naps. It was tough but after just 2 days he was sleeping for 10 hour spells at night and having his 2 daily naps. Much happier baby and a more sane mother!
