9 month old daughter will only let mum feed her at night

My 9 month old daughter has just started cutting in more teeth and has become extremely difficult with me (her dad) at night feeds. It's never ever been a problem before but as soon as I go anywhere near her at night she screams until my wife holds her and then manages to finish the feed routine which I couldn't even start. Any help?

Night feeds?

At 9 months old, she really doesn't need any feeds

CandyLeBonBon · 19/05/2020 01:53

😂 @JustStayHome
My eldest was night feeding for a lot longer than 9 months! My middle one was night feeding til he was 1 and I got lucky with my youngest who stopped night feeding at 9 months! That might be your experience but it's by no means the ONLY experience!

@JustStayHome Are you on drugs? Confused
What a crazy culture we live in.

OP, does your wife breastfeed?

fallfallfall · 19/05/2020 03:16

I would think it perfectly normal for a sick and achy child to want their mom.

@Clawley123 i sympathise, when she's teething DD will only settle for me, its been quite upsetting for my husband. Maybe you could bring the baby in to your wife for a cuddle while you prep bottles etc?

I know it's a pain, but don't take it personally. Baby loves you, this is just one of those primal things. It'll pass.

If he’s teething calpol at bedtime might help

twinnywinny14 · 19/05/2020 03:52

@JustStayHome I agree re night feeds. I know lots of babies sleeping through at this age. God imagine, years ago babies were sleeping through much younger than now. That aside OP it sounds like she just wants her mummy at night, so she will be on night duty for now!

God imagine, years ago babies were sleeping through much younger than now.

@twinnywinny14 can I see your evidence for this?

It is biologically normal for babies to wake during the night.

My 2 year old wakes frequently. It's this stupid western culture and their obsession with babies sleeping through.

awesmum · 19/05/2020 05:08

Babies go through fits and starts of who they will and won't settle with. Give it time.

Breastfed babies don’t tend to sleep through the night.
