Could this be what they call "sleep regression?"

Hi all

So my 14 week old had started to sleep really well, from about 7.30/8pm through till 7/8am with one wake up at 4.30am for a feed.

However for the past few nights, he has woken up more frequently and is VERY restless when he does eventually fall asleep. He gets very fidgety, thrashes his arms in the air and constantly turns his head from side to side. He will do this for ages. I have tried to ignore it and let him fall asleep himself, but he ends up waking himself up! He does not stop wriggling around.

The only thing that settles him is if I hold his hands down to his chest and shhh him. Or place a dummy in his mouth and lightly tap his chest/shoulder until he settles down again. He has his eyes closed the entire time and he doesn't seem distressed or uncomfortable in any way. He is doing this almost every 1.5 hours and I'm so tired!
Last night, he got restless at 10.00pm, 11.30pm, 1.00am, 2.30am, woke up for his usual 4.30am feed, then restless again at 6.00am and then eventually woke up for the day at 7.20am.

Just when I thought we cracked night sleep 😫

He is 3.5 months now. Could this be the dreaded 4 month sleep regression? Has anybody else experienced this?

Interested in this. My almost 16 week old is doing similar and I'm not sure how to handle!

@bookish83 reassuring to know somebody else is experiencing the same thing! I'm really hoping it's just a phase that he will grow out of. It really is exhausting isn't it!

My DS is 6 months this week and has been the exact same for the last 6 weeks he wakes at least 5 times from when he goes to bed and I am exhausted, have tried co-sleeping but it makes no difference I have tried about everything at this stage really hoping it gets better soon !

The only way I can get DS back to sleep is by rolling him on his side and wiggling his bottom. He used to sleep through waking once for a feed I feel more tired now then when he was a newborn !
