Worried about baby's development

My little girl is 12 weeks old, but was born at 35+6 so I would expect her to be along the lines of an 8 week old. She still struggles to hold up her head, and can only do it for 3 or 4 seconds at a time when on her tummy. She is smiling but it's difficult to get two or three from her each day. She only really has one cry, and I read that by now I should be able to tell if she is crying because she's hungry, wants a nappy change etc. She isn't very interested in toys at all and doesn't really look when I try to show her them. She does watch me however and will follow me around a room with her eyes. Am I expecting too much of her or should I be concerned?

So sorry, thought I was in the behaviour/development section. Could this be moved please?

I'm really not an expert but a lot of that sounds like my little girl who is a lovely and alert 6 month old. She only became interested in toys very recently. There are very specific things that they look for in baby's development but I think for the most part babies are just different. For example, I read my baby should be "rolling around all over the place" but she 100% is not doing that but I'm not worried as I dont think she'll never be able to roll.

I guess what I'm saying is that it's very easy to worry about baby's development and to compare them with other baby's but I don't think it's helpful or useful.

I hope you're OK, I know it's stressful x

I could of written your post when my little guy was her age. He was early but not as earlier as your little one. He hated tummy time, didn’t smile much and wasn’t very vocal at her age either but all of a sudden things started to click with him. He is 6 months now and only recently became good at tummy time or interested in toys. I can’t turn my back for 2 seconds now as otherwise he will roll straight onto his tummy as that’s how he wants to be these days. I was worried as I was looking at other babies his age and wondering why he wasn’t doing what others were. Please don’t compare as babies are all individual and a lot of the milestones are not set in stone. Have a look at wonderweeks as that is based on your baby’s due date not birth date as well.
