12 week sleep regression?!

Hello!

Please tell me that this is normal and will phase out 🤦🏽‍♀️

Our baby has just turned 12 weeks. Prior to the last few days, she would always go to sleep by 8/8.30 and would go down in her crib no problem. Her usual pattern each night was about 2/3 feeds and wake up around 5.30ish. She started doing even longer stretches to 6/7 hour blocks of sleep which was amazing.

Two days ago she suddenly decided that she didn’t like her crib anymore and screamed/cried everytime we put her down. We carried on trying until 1am and she finally slept in it but probably because she was so tired from the crying! Then last night it was the same and she then kept waking every hour after that.

I’m exhausted and dreading night time already 😩

Has anyone experienced this? I guess I just want to know that it will get better

I had the same thing with my little one af 12 weeks! Have you ever heard of the wonder weeks app/book? At 12 weeks, babies go through a growth spurt and a developmental leap which can impact on their sleep. Things will settle down again eventually it's just a matter of riding it out!
Some people think the wonder weeks are a load of rubbish, but I would say it's been pretty accurate so far for my little one. It's a nice way of trying to understand what's going on for them particularly if they are being a little out of character all of a sudden!

My LG has just turned 12 weeks. Gone from 7-8 hours at night & naps during the day to being awake every 3 hours at night, hard to put down to sleep, hard to get back to sleep & will not nap during the day at all.

Might be the four month regression come early. Doesn't always happen at exactly four months.

My lo was the same around then. Teething and sleep regression /growth spurt at the same time. Co sleeping safely was my saviour. After a couple of weeks she was a better sleeper than ever.

Im now at the 8/9m sleep regression and it's the same again. It's just a phase, or so I keep repeating to myself Confused

Thanks everyone for their replies! Is it just a case of riding it out then? Do you think she will go back to sleeping In her crib?

@S082018 yes I did think it was a wonder week leap! And she’s definitely got bigger too!

@Everdreamer1990 oh no it’s such a shock isn’t it! She was so easy to put down and now it takes us so long!! How long has she been like it for?

Yeah, basically. If it's the sleep regression it's a permanent change in the way she sleeps. Took mine about eight months to get back to where she had been, but some do it a lot sooner and it does gradually improve.

My DS went through this around 16 weeks so closer to 4 months but does sound like a sleep regression. It was the toughest part of parenting so far (he is now 13 months). Wouldn’t let us put him in his cot at all. Would fall asleep in our arms and then wake if you tried to put him down. Then would wake every hour at night for around 2 weeks.

What helped us was introducing white noise, which I should have done from the start. And we gave him a comforter/security blanket and soother going down and let him use those to aid him in falling asleep. Worked a treat so could be helpful to try a couple different sleep aids and see what sticks?

She will eventually settle in her cot. It’s just a phase if she was able to settle before now.
