2 year old nap and bedtime timing

So my 2 year old naps really well. She falls asleep within about 5-15mins and will nap for 2-3hrs (if I let her....I often don't because it's too late for bed then).
At bedtime however she takes 30mins-1hr to fall asleep and she just isn't acting tired at all.
When she goes down for her nap there might be a little bit of chat to me or her teddy but then she quickly rolls over and settles. And bedtime she plays games, she changes her teddy about 20 times, she sings and chats (it's adorable if it wasn't for the fact she needs to be asleep!) and generally just messes around.
She also often wakes at least one or twice a night. Can usually settle her again quickly but the disturbed sleep is started to take its toll!
I do think she is teething but it's been going on for months 🤦‍♀️
At the moment she falls asleep with me sat in her room, I don't do anything I just sit by the door. I know I need to stop this but I just want to get the nap/bedtime timing right to do this.
I have tried dropping the nap completely and she went to bed just like at nap, little chat and asleep within 15mins. She didn't seem to struggle in the day at all but was still up twice.
I have tried letting her sleep longer in the day (to check not overtired). She took an hour to settle and then was still up twice.
At the moment she wakes and roughly 6.30am naps from 12-1.30pm (I wake her at 1.30) and then bed at 7-7.30pm (asleep usually by 7.30-8pm...or 8.30pm worst case).
Any advice on changing timing, dropping nap, moving bedtime, shortening nap?
Many thanks in advance!

I should've said she was only 2 in March so still quite young.
Although she did drop from 3-2naps early and 2-1 early so I expect she'll drop to no nap early but not sure if this is too young!

Dropping the nap worked for us in this situation.

Ah ok thanks @Selfsettling3. How old was your little one when you dropped the nap? Thanks

Sounds like my 2 year old!
She falls asleep within 5 mins at nap time and takes up to an hour at bedtime.
I’m beside her the whole time .
She naps 12-1.30pm and bed at 7.45pm. She still wakes every night between 11am-12 for a bottle and wakes up between 7-8am.

I had thought about dropping nap but I need that time during the day as I have a 7 year old too!

I’ll follow this thread for any tips !

Also mine was 2 in March .

It's so hard isn't it @GiveMeAllTheGin8! I have a 5year old too and especially when they are both at home. I do need that break with her to get some school work done at the moment!

My youngest was 2 in February and dropped the last nap at around 18 months. We find if he falls asleep during the day it massively disrupts his bedtime and he just no longer needed it.

Mine was 2 in April and he’s up at 6.30, nap 1.30-3, and we put him into his cot at 7.30. I sit in the room (in silence) and he’s asleep by 8. Could you cut her nap shorter rather than scrapping it altogether? Nap times are my lifeline atm!

BabyBobbins32 · 13/05/2020 09:32

@HarrietM87 I know exactly what you mean about naps being the lifeline 😂 I will seriously miss that time if I do drop the nap. It's so frustrating as she naps so well and I hate waking her but it interferes so much with bedtime I think I definitely need to either shorten or drop it.

@BabyBobbins32 if she goes down to 1 or 1.5hrs now it’s still better than nothing! Worth a try!

Mine was the same, we dropped the nap at Christmas time. Awful for a few days but since then has gone to bed absolutely perfect. If she has had an unsettled night or woken up especially early we take her out for a drive for a wee 30 minute snooze.

She was 2 in April so similar age. She now sleeps 7pm to 8am, sometimes 9am. It's amazing 😜

My little boy turnt 2 in April. He's up about 5.30-6.30, naps from 10.30 until 12.30-1 and then in bed by 6.15 asleep by 6.30 with me sat outside his door. I'm dreading when he drops his daytime nap 🙈
