Baby asleep but crying - why is this happening?

My LO is 6mo and after I put her down to sleep at night every couple of hours starts crying but she is still asleep. Does anyone know why this happens? Is she having nightmares? Could it be teething? She settles down after I go in and pick her up to comfort her but she is asleep the whole time! Is this normal? It's horrible!

Hey! Totally normal, don't worry! My DD did this from 6 months, still does occasionally at 19 months. Usually worse during a developmental leap. She also cut her first teeth around then and I distinctly remember a week from hell so could be a bit of that too!
