So my friends son is 21months and has been sleeping through but since about 7 days ago has stopped! He’s waking around 12:30-2:30 & during this time will struggle to go back to sleep.I resettle him as I normally would if ever he randomly woke up previously but he constantly keeps opening his eyes to check I am still there. I only leave the room when I know he’s asleep, however minutes later he’s back up crying for me! He has a stair gate on his door as he can open the door handle now so what happens is he throws his comforter & dummy over it so I have to give back as ironically he wants it. He cries and cries and cries, I repeat the above exercise to resettle, falls asleep, leave the room & you got it the same happens. This went on for 3 hours last night and still at the end of the 3 hours was upset and stood by his stair gate. In the end I gave in and he came into bed with me and I know that was the worse thing I could of done but i honestly had tried the above so many times and he just kept waking! Its like he only will settle if I stay with him but that’s never been the case. She has been following nap gaps and resulting in an earlier bedtime. Her child is very very active , always on the go, very alert and curious you would just think he would sleep
She's at her wits end and hoping you could help...thanks
