21 month old won’t sleep unless I am lying next to her.

She had cmpa as a baby so for the first 3 months of her life she screamed pretty much non stop. It steadily got worse until we switched her milk & it finally subsided. I used to bring her into bed when she woke in the night crying which eventually led to her just sleeping in my bed. Whenever I left the room she screamed & I just couldn’t leave her crying.
She has now moved into her own room but I still lay beside her until she falls asleep. Sometimes she falls asleep really quickly & I don’t mind so much but last night it took 2 hrs. I tried sitting beside the bed but it didn’t work. I always just thought she would get to an age when I could just explain I’m only next door, I will leave the door open etc but now I’m afraid I’ve created a sleep association that is going to be very hard to break. Anyone else been in the same boat or have any advice?

I’m in the same boat with my 21 month old - she had terrible colic and we co slept unril she was 14 months. And even after we do get her to sleep she still wakes frequently, is yours the same? No advice but hopefully someone else has some 😕

Yes she’s the same. She went down good tonight & now she’s woken up I’m back in beside her again waiting for her to go back to sleep.
Thank you for sharing, it’s just nice to know I’m not alone x
