Bedside Cot and an Ottoman bed?

Hi,

We are looking to purchase a bedside cot for lo due in august.
The problem is we have an ottoman bed - not a traditional bed frame (with the space underneath) in order to slip in/push the bedside crib as close as possible to our mattress.
Tried looking online and youtube to see if anyone’s had any luck in the past with such a bed but can’t find anything.

Does anyone have any experience or suggestions?

Would also appreciate bedside cot suggestions, as I am still shopping around, on a budget and cannot make my mind up!

Thank you

I've just googled ottoman beds because I didn't know what you meant. Is it like a divan bed (solid base with storage space underneath)?

I can't figure out why you think this may be a problem? You can still butt a sidecar cot up to your bed as normal. Can you explain more what you feel the issue will be?

As for the cot - you don't need to buy a special type of cot. Pretty much any flat pack cot (and everything except the very high end cots are flat pack) can be put up with one side left off.

I'd recommend a cot bed, just because they are bigger so you have more room to snuggle your own body into the 3-sided bedside cot. If you can find a dropside cot bed, you get more options to gradually revert from bedside cot to proper 4-sided cot when the time comes. But dropside cots aren't around very much nowadays.

For my youngest child I had a John Lewis dropside cot bed, 3-sided from newborn butted up to my divan bed. Previous to that I had this one (currently unavalible) butted up to the same so can bed

Image shows what I mean. Note the pool noodle used to push mattress across to fill gap between cot and bed mattresses.

The Cicco next to me comes with meters and meters of straps so you can tie it correctly to an ottoman bed.

If it's the same as a divan bed it's fine, they have different straps which go under the mattress.

Our Chico next to me has feet that bend in if you get what I mean ? So it can be fitted next to a divan bed

I get what you mean. I also have an ottoman bed and I just bought the Tutti Banbini cot. It didn’t come with the safety straps but I plan to get reeeally long straps to go around the bottom half of our king size bed and clip together while the bed it up if you get me. Then you can pull the top half with mattress down. You’ll have to watch what kind of stuff you put in your bed towards the top end where you have the cot straps as they will be over the top of the open storage.
