Night wakings- is the dummy causing it?

My little boy is coming up to 6 months. He was always a really good sleeper until we hit the 4 month sleep regression where we were putting the dummy in endlessly (he went straight back to sleep once you had). He has improved in the past few weeks and in the past few days has also dropped his night feed. We put him down in his cot awake and he settles himself. But we are still having night wakings, some nights just once or twice, others lots of time. He is self settling some of the time but not always. I don’t want to get rid of the dummy unless I have to, but do you think this could be the cause of him waking?

Dummy's helps reduce the risk of sids. Just keep on doing what you're doing. Baby sleep patterns change all the time. My 18 month old is only just sleeping through the night now. Don't listen when other people tell you their baby has always slept through. I'm convinced that people misremember or outright lie about how well babies sleep as they think it's some mark of how great a parent they are. Also, there's another sleep regression at 6 months, another around 8 or 9 months and more later. Just when you think you're getting there, it changes. Everything is a phase when they're little. The dummy is fine. This too shall pass.
