Hi there,
My DD is 16 weeks, not a particularly bad sleeper but wakes herself quite easily if sleeping alone.
She is EBF and we co sleep due to if she is in her cot (which is right next to me) she manages to stir herself (still fast asleep) with her arms sort of searching around for me to see if im near until she fully wakes, if she is next to me she feels me on her and sleeps much better sometimes going a good four hours if im lucky!
At what age did you let baby sleep on their tummy?
She has really good head control, has the reflex to move her head if its blocked i.e her heads down as she does it on the breast when she falls asleep and takes too much milk or is on us but, im more concerned about her nestling her head down into the mattress and falling into a deep sleep as i know this is the concern regarding tummy sleeping and she occasionally does this on us, but, im too scared to let her try it alone.
She's started rolling on her tummy already and has been able to hold her head up pretty much from birth and can push uo onto her elbows.
We have an angelcare monitor (which, im also to anxious to use
) and if im honest, she still naps on us during the day as I hate waking her (we are working on it and she has gotten so much better!) initially she HATED sleeping on her back and i slept upright with her for weeks befroe giving into co sleeping in a safe position and now thankfully sleeps next to me in bed on her back!
But, i can't help but feel that she sleeps way better and deeper on her tummy, i assume the pressure on her tummy helps her to feel more secure?
I know its not advised until they can roll over but wondering if anyone did it earlier, what tips could you give around it?
Or general tips around sleeping in a next to me and helping the transition.
Thank you, an obviously very anxious about everything FTM
