Baby snuffles

Hello everyone!

I am hoping that some more experienced mums can share their wisdom with me!

My son is 6 weeks old and full of snot. The HV and GP have told me this is normal for his age and made worse by the fact he was very poorly at 3 weeks, but that it will pass in a few weeks.

But nobody is sleeping! He thrashes about and snorts like a little piggy, I worry he is choking it’s so noisy! Which means he isn’t sleeping well and I’m constantly watching him. This morning I was awake from 1.45am and feel like I can’t even nap now because it worries me so much! It seems silly because without all this he would happily sleep 4/5 hours at a time.

I have tried....

Lifting the head of his cot
Putting him into deep sleep before putting him down
Saline drops
Laying him on his side (which is feel AWFUL about but he hates being on his back as it makes the snot 100 times worse. I could do a whole other thread on how worried I am about SIDS!)

I’ve ordered a cool mist humidifier so I’m hoping that will work but I’m open to any other tips!

Snufflebabe on his feet?
Sucking the snot out of his nose before bedtime? (Gag, i know, but it helped DD)

We had this for weeks, in the end we took it in turns to sleep in the spare room

Oh hadn’t heard of snufflebabe before, I will order some, thank you! :)

I’m gonna sound stupid but suck it out like with my mouth?!

My DD has always been congested from birth, now 16 weeks and has a cold. We tried everything, a bulb, salime drops, sprays, essential oils absolutely nothing helped! We got a nosfrida last week after she came down with a cold and had actual snot comjng from nose like running (previously was just all bunged up in the back) and that really helped! I found a bulb didnt do a lot but nosfrida really good!

When they are so little the little nasal passages are so small that anything and everything blocks it!

Also, try standing bub in your bathroom with door closed and shower on to steam uo for five minutes.

Double check about snufflebabe vapour rub on feet as if i remember correctly it cant be used before 3 months, but, i could be wrong!
