How many naps does your baby have?

I have a 7mo DD and she naps 4 times a day. She roughly does 3 x 1hr naps and tends to wake up from the last one at around 3pm. She can't go from 3-6.30/7 for bedtime without getting really miserable/overtired, so I end up doing a mini 20 min nap at 5 which can often be a bit of a struggle! I tend to try to do a drive or a walk.. which is obviously not possible during this time.

I would love to drop the 4th nap! Any advice? I worry about a very early bedtime in case she wakes mega early in the morning!

Please share what your similar ages babies do/did as I expect most would be on 2-3 at this time! Thank you!

My daughter is 6 month old. She usually has three naps a day at around 10 am, 1 pm and 3pm and does to sleep by 8.00 - 8.30. On the days that her naps are shorter she has a fourth nap at around 6 pm. However on the days she has a fourth nap she goes to sleep later as well so around 9-10 pm.

Hi, at that age my DS was having 4 30-minute naps a day, he didn’t drop the fourth nap until about 8 months and he didn’t go to 2 naps until about 9 months when he just suddenly started sleeping for longer on his morning nap and then eventually his afternoon nap. He still always has about 3 hours of sleep, just across 2 naps instead of 4. I’d always make sure he was awake by 4pm for his 6.30 bed time (3.30pm now)
I’d probably try to increase the times between the earlier naps just by 10 minutes each so that the third nap has a 3.30-4pm wake up, then 6.30 bed time.
To be honest if she’s sleeping well at night I’d just let her get on with it!

*he has 2 hours of sleep a day now, not 3

@Humma1995 thanks for coming back to me! What time does your daughter wake up from her last nap? It sounds like she goes for a good 3hrs+ between then and bedtime? Mine is exhausted after 2 hours and just gets more and more irate!

@Abouttimemum ok thanks, yours sounds quite similar to mine, we're just perhaps having slightly longer naps.

I think pushing out the earlier wake windows does make sense.
You're totally right that as she sleeps well at night, I shouldn't really be too bothered... it's just a bit of a pain when I'm trying to get her down for a nap at 5, when ideally I'd like her to be going down only an hour or two later for bedtime!

Regularly? None. She hates napping and usually only sleeps in the car.

This week we have managed 2 per day aa we’ve not been in the car for 3 weeks, she’s done 45 mons about 2hrs after waking up and a long nap about 3pm for 2hrs.

She’s a dreadful napper but ok at night (2 short wake ups).

By 7 months, my daughter gave up naps entirely but went to bed by 7 and slept til at least 6am. She was also walking at 8 months (nightmare), never crawled, and between her and her brother who's 2 years older, I don't think I sat down during the day for 4 years. Haha! All babies are different!

My daughter tends to fight going to sleep till she's absolutely exhausted, so yeah on some days on her last nap she can be awake for more than 3 hours; which isn't good and I'm trying to sleep train her but she's a stubborn one
