Help, getting 6 year old girl to sleep on her own

Hi all, i have a 6 year old girl who is very sweet and behaved. My problem is getting her to sleep on her own,for now i have to stay in her room on a chair until she falls asleep. sometimes it could take 60 minutes. i have moved the chair closer to the door each night, but no use. She cries and roars if i leave her on her own , she gets all worked up. once shes asleep she is great. Hands up, its my fault, i have done this since she was a toddler, she never had a doodie or bottle to settle, only me :)

please any help appreciated, i have neighbours i have to take into consideration, she has a calm lead up to bedtime, book and cuddle etc

thanks

Keep doing what you’re doing and move an inch further away each night. Baby steps. Soon you’ll be outside her door and working your way downstairs.

Have you tried talking to her about it? At 6 she's probably old enough to be reasoned with, tell her its time for her to sleep by herself like a big girl. Get her used to being by herself in the day. Get her new sheets (let her pick), get her excited about bedtime, then remind her before bed. Do the routine, kisses, leave. Get a star chart, use bribery.

Pop a bottle of wine and a note explaining/apologising on the neighbours' doorstep and another when it's done saying thank you for their patience.

Does she have a bedtime buddy? My 8 month old has 'bedtime bunny' who is only used for bedtime. She snuggles it and doses off in minutes on her own. She has a different one for day time naps but it works a treat.

If she doesn't have one, perhaps she could pick it out herself online and you can explain that a she's a big girl she can have her bedtime buddy now as mummy will be just downstairs...
