Dummy and night waking

Not sure if anyone out there can help.....DS is 3 months old, and had been sleeping really well at night - if he ever woke we could easily sooth him back to sleep with his dummy. Now he goes to sleep after his last feed without it fine, but is waking about 10 times per night basically asking for his dummy. If we give it to him he'll fall back to sleep easily (all hell breaks loose if we don't give it to him)....he'll eventually spit it out in his sleep but basically when he drifts into a lighter sleep he wakes himself up because of the lack of dummy.....and so the cycle goes. Any suggestions as to what to do? Think we should wean the dummy but I'm not sure how best to do this, or how to comfort him in the middle of the night without the dummy and without waking him up fully...........help!!!!!!!!
