Sleep Training and removing dummy?

Someone please give me some tips!

5mnth old cant settle himself so me and partner we're wondering about starting sleep training as the night wakings are ridiculous every time he gets in light sleep! We rock him to sleep with a dummy, but everytime he wakes he wants his dummy and sometimes to be rocked, but we are so tired!

So we were going to start sleep training fully aware it's going to involve some tears but right now we are so desperate! But does this include naps and bedtime? As we were going to start putting him down for naps while he is awake and just leave him to settle himself.

Also the dummy seems to be causing a problem now, so do we just go cold turkey?

Anyone have any tips on either and whether doing them at the same time is a good idea? Thanks

I found the Little Z Sleep podcast really useful for this very question. Loads of tips there. She recommends cold turkey and for every sleep. I am a bit of a soft touch but lots of her tips helped us
