So i wrote a post a few weeks ago about my npw 18 month wakong anywhere between 5 and 615. Mostly the earlier side. Recently he is awake by 515 but is waking his sister a bit which hasn't happened before. They share a room. He is really shouting loud now when he wakes do we have to just scoop him up amd leave so she doesn't wake properly whereas before we could leave for a bit. He is obviously still tired as has his milk then wont play just screams then wants cuddles and teletubbies which i didnt used to turn on till 6. But hes guna wake up the house with his screamy tantrum. Anyway my daughter did mention she was really hot. Our heating comes on at 4 and he wheres socks long sleeve vest pjs and 2.5 tog sleeping bag. I am aware it is getting a bit warmer in the morning. What does everyone else dress and heat there house at? Xx thanks xx

DD is 10 months and just wears a vest and sleepsuit. The temperature in her room is always about 20. Your DS is probably boiling. Get rid of the sleeping bag.

GenevaMaybe · 07/03/2020 06:28

My 2-yr old DDs bedroom is between 20-21 degrees. She is wearing pjs and a sleeping bag, no vest or socks.

SnowWhite26 · 07/03/2020 06:34

Ok
So I guess it goes down to about 18-19 at night at this time of year and then heating on at 4 and it goes up to about 20 degrees maybe a bit higher depends on day. My 4 year old sleeps in pjs and a 4 tog toddler duvet in same room all year round. My 18 month old also has a big pillow that he snuggles into so maybe i should put a short sleeve vest and no socks? Is heating coming onnto early? Its such a funny time of year x

I would do sleeveless vest and no socks. What’s his routine like?

Waiting1987 · 07/03/2020 06:44

This is a guide to what child needs with sleeping bag. Socks and vest really shouldn't be needed.

I only put socks on him coz they are pjs and u til recently he was wearing an all in one suit so has feet in. :) He goes to bed by 7 and generally sleeps through till between 5 and 615. He generally has a nap between 1 and 2 hrs after lunch. Sometimes a cat nap in the car in the morning if we go out x

I would find that way too hot. I refuse to have the heating on in our room because the change in temperature in the mornings wakes me up. DH hates me.

We adopt the same approach for DD as she was waking early and I wondered if that might be why. It has helped. When she was 18 months her room sometimes dropped as low as 14 degrees overnight but we dressed her accordingly using the Grobag instructions and she was fine.

caulkheaded · 07/03/2020 07:34

14 overnight and comes on to 18 deg at 6. We then turn it up if needed.

SnowWhite26 · 07/03/2020 19:26

So I have turned radiator down a bit and changed it come on at 5 instead of 4. Hes in pjs a short sleeve vest and sleeping bag.It might be nothing to do with him waking but i just thought it this morning with weathed changing :) lets see x

How did it go? Bit late, but my thinking was the heating was waking him up. The sleeping bag recommendations are a guide,go by how warm he feels especially on his tummy.

SnowWhite26 · 09/03/2020 08:46

Hes been wakingup between 530 and 545 these past to mornings and i npw put him in short sleeve vest and no socks pjs and 2.5 tog bag. I turn heating on at 5 and its not to warm.so dunno really x

The past week I've been dressing my 4mo in a long sleeved vest, baby grow and a 1.5 tog sleeping bag. Bedroom is at 19°c and she seems to be sleeping a bit better for it!

SnowWhite26 · 10/03/2020 05:32

Bloody 5am again. Seemed a bit chilly but thdn i went in in pjs. I dunno what to do anymore. He shares a room with his 4vyr old sister who can sleep till 7. We have recently been getting him up straight away as he was waking her up which hadnt happened before. I cant keep getting up at 5 then having 2 children all day and sometimes working
I go to bef early im still exhausted!!

Sounds like he's still too hot!

My 20 month old has been sleeping in a sleeping bag and just pjs since he was about 13/14 months old and our house is currently 17c. Any warmer and I'd be sweating like crazy and the kids complain it makes them hot and their heads hurt.

Our heating comes on about 6:00 just to warm the house up A tiny bit in winter but no need for it at the moment

SnowWhite26 · 10/03/2020 05:56

Hes so grumpy most of the day and i dunno if its tired or just grump but I cant keep getting up at 5.ot felt pretty chilly this morning but thats me just in pjs. He also is in a big sleepyhead that i keep meaning to swap with a pillow but scared he wont sleep well as hes always had sleepyhead but guess that would make it warmer x

OP posts:
GenevaMaybe · 10/03/2020 06:24

The sleepyhead is very very warm. I would get rid of that ASAP. Babies do not need pillows in any case.
Does the heating make a noise when it comes on, is there any banging in the pipes or the boiler?

Flatwhite32 · 10/03/2020 06:30

Solidarity OP! The latest my 19 month old sleeps at the moment is til just after 6. It just seems to be her natural wake up time unfortunately!

SnowWhite26 · 10/03/2020 22:36

Got rid of sleepyhead tonight. He hss got a pillow but felt he needed something as likes to snuggle into it. We will see x
