I am familiar with the ferber method, but I have also heard people refer to gentle sleep training. Is this different?

I have a 7.5 month old who goes off to sleep fine but wakes between 12-2. Does not need a bottle (refuses if offered or will only have a couple of oz), but will not go back to sleep i cot. I currently co sleep ,but want to try a bit harder to get baby to sleep in cot.

Following as in the same position!

My DS who is 6mo slept fine in his Moses basket , but he out grew it. Hated his cot so for the last 2 months has slept with me in the nursery in the spare bed.

If I put him in his cot he wakes and cries. I have a breathable cot bumper arriving tomorrow to see if that will help him feel more settled.

I need to get him to sleep on his own as I so desparately want to go back upstairs with my DH.

It's basically building sleep associations over time (routine with bath, song, cuddly if age appropriate etc) and slowly swapping feeding and rocking for less intensive things like patting and shushing.

The no cry sleep solution book has good ways of weaning gently off cosleeping

I think gentle sleep training is several things under one heading...so building sleep associations, the retreat method. Basically helping them to self soothe without using cry it out
