Are short naps a problem?

My 5 month old is a brilliant sleeper at night, I'm very lucky - 12+ hours with 0-1 wake-ups to feed. Counting my lucky stars because she had an awful 4 month regression and I never would have guessed she could figure this out.

However, her naps are very short - normally 3 x 25 mins - whether she's in her cot, on my lap, in the carrier, in the pram or in the car. Does this matter? She usually seems rested afterwards, and it's not like she can't nap longer - occasionally one nap is longer, even 1 hour very rarely.

All the sleep stuff I've read suggests she should be napping longer - which I'd love, as I have no chance to stop at the moment - but should I just leave it? Is this just her? For context, she's never had as much sleep in the day as suggested, even as a very new newborn she was very alert and wakeful.

My son has just turned 3 months and we’re struggling with nap times. Night sleep is great. Goes down at 9pm and only wakes for one feed around 3am. However I can’t seem to keep him down for naps for any longer than 30 mins. He wakes crying and I can I only get him back to sleep by BF. He refuses a soother. When he goes back to sleep he’s awake again sometimes minutes later or as soon as I put him down. I can tell at this point he’s exhausted. He’s in a dark room, I’ve used white house and the let him cry it out. I’m at my wits end. I’m also dreading weaning him off the boob as he will have nothing to sooth him then. Any ideas???

My 6 month old has turned into a 30 min cat napper since the 4 month regression but sleeps 7pm-6am of a night. She may grow out of it, probably will, in a few months and it can be a pain getting no down time in the day but it is what it is, nothing ive changed or messed around with made any difference

Thanks @elhan, that's good to know - I guess I'll just stick with it!

I have a cat napper here too - usually 4 x 30 min a day, same as you - no matter what I do it's always the same! Though he is now nearly 7 months and we have started getting the odd longer nap in the last couple of weeks. Usually 45mins to an hour, once a day. I am assuming that will continue and become more regular - at least I hope that's what will happen!

If you're on Instagram, follow Twinningituk - she gives lots of free sleep advice for babies and has tackled the 30 minute sleep cycles topic and how you can overcome it so they sleep for longer at a time. Good luck!
