Transitioning to one nap

Hi there

I have a 15month old who has two naps a day - no problem.

But just wondering what everyone schedules are when you transition to one nap a day as for me it sounds like it's bang in the middle of lunchtime? When do your little ones have lunch and what if you have a scheduled activity like swimming at 1.30 and their nap time would ideally be 12-2pm?

Thanks

Unfortunately you just have to stop doing lunchtime activities. DD naps from 1-3.30ish so we go out in the morning and make sure we're home by 12.30 for lunch. Sometimes we'll go out after her nap too but often it's a bit late by the time she's up and awake enough. It's restrictive but it's not forever!

My 17 month old usually naps from 12.45/1ish until 2-3ish depending on the day, but I’m very much at the stage that life can’t stop just because she needs a nap so if we have something planned at that time (her christening for example started at 12!!!) we get her to take a quick morning nap around 10.30ish for about an hour and then have a quick nap in the afternoon around 3ish if it fits, otherwise we just put her to bed early. We found that on days out she’ll easily fall asleep in the car anytime from 9.30ish which helps to get her through the middle of the day and she can then nap in the car one the way home. That won’t work for everyone though and we are really lucky that she is pretty adaptable and still sleeps well at night (7.30-7) regardless of if she’s had a danger nap late on in the car

Lunch at midday. Naptime 1-3. Pretty much every toddler I know runs on these times.
You just have to schedule classes or activities for mornings or post 3pm.

Most toddler activities seem to happen in the morning - it was awkward while on two naps 🤦🏼‍♀️ but perfect for one.

My DS is two now and we do (roughly!)

7.00 up and milk
Potter
9.30 - 11.30 snack and activity
12 lunch
12.30 nap

He usually sleeps till about 4pm and then goes to bed at 7pm. But it took him a while before he would sleep for that long.

At the weekends we all sleep in, so it's usually more wake up at 8 and nap at 1.

It's going to be a nasty shock to the system when he drops his nap 😭
