I have a almost 9 year old and we’re going through some awful bedtime issues
She just won’t settle it takes ages of delay tactics, calling back, questions, excuses not to sleep then sometimes she wakes in night too for any number of random reasons .... often excuses

We have a sleep chart, we’re using a school residential trip as incentive but she doesn’t seem to improve
She says sorry every morning after it happens & we talk about it & ask her to improve
But to be honest now I’m at the end of my tether & loosing patience I don’t know how we can get out of this hole?

Have a chat with the gp. Your local children's hospital might have a children's sleep team that could offer some advice. A paediatrician might also be able to help.

@Mumof1andacat
I think that will be our next step GP
It just feels odd to go to a GP about something that isn't an illness as such but I don't know where to turn now as nothing I do seems to work

DD did this at about the same age, delaying tactics didn't work with me, I preempted everything, she did want me to go back in, but I gradually lengthened the time between going back in. It lasted a few months. She still needs me to come with her to say goodnight every night, which is a pain when she doesn't go to bed until 10 on school nights and 11 at weekends. 😴

@PhilomenaChristmasPie
I'm happy to put her to bed answer the questions do best bit of day etc but it's the constant calling back or up / down etc

Oh my gosh 10 or 12 .... I'm in bed by 10 myself!!!
